Just because you adding value to your home, it doesn't mean that you have to spend a bunch of money on a variety of different home improvement projects. So, the first room you need to thing about upgrading is the kitchen. In the kitchen, you should think about switching out some of you old light fixtures for new, more energy efficient lighting. Secondly, people love shiny things. Shiny things make the dull things around them seem brighter. For this reason, you should take a couple of hundred dollars, and replace the kitchen sink, along with the handles on all of your cabinets and them polish them up to make them shinier. Also, depending on your budget, you many consider not replacing the cabinet door handles, but replacing all of the cabinet doors. This process is a lot cheaper than replacing all of the cabinets. You can have a cabinet company come and either replace the doors, refinish the doors, or just paint the cabinet doors.

Do your appliances match? If not, in most cases, you can simple contact the appliance manufacturer and order just the door of your appliances. So if you have a black fridge, a black microwave and a black stove, but your dishwasher is stainless steel, you could possible just order a black door for the dishwasher and replace it yourself. This also cost far less than trying to buy a brand new appliance such as a dishwasher. And since its just the door, replacing it may just mean unscrewing and re-screwing a couple of screws.

Lets go down the halls to the bathrooms. Usually the rest rooms in the house are the second most important rooms when one is trying to sell their the house – The kitchen is the first. How does your sink and bathtub look? You can have both the sink and toilet refinished for about Three Hundred Dollars. Now of course the price will differ depending on what region of the country, or what state you live in, but in the south east, I know for sure you can have this job completed for the above price.

It won't cost no more than Thirty Dollars to change your toilet seat. You can do this yourself. Also, it won't be a bad idea to spend a couple Hundred dollars to have your sink replace with a pedestal sink – unless you already have one. What about the messed up Tile? Hey, have no fear – Vinyl guy is here. Sheets of vinyl tile are not really that expensive and their very easy to install. If you can't cut and lay the vinyl sheets yourself, you should have a handy man do it – they shouldn't charge too much.

Do you like to paint? Who Cares!? If you are on a budget and you can't afford painter but you can afford paint then you need to paint! When you re-paint the walls, it makes the home appear so much brighter and cleaner. There is a certain way you have to paint and prepare to paint but isn't rocket science. Quick Fixer Uppers. How big is your closets? People love closet space. In fact, people love closet space so much that there are now hundreds of different “closet buddies” that you can add to a regular closet to make the closet more storage friendly. This is something you can do yourself but if you contract it out, it should be very inexpensive.

Loose wiring? Leaky faucet? You should make it upon to have a electrician and plumber, or a handy man come out and fix any loose wires, or faulty wiring – fix leaks, and repair any noticeably large holes, if any.

If you have screen doors, make sure that the screens are nice and tight – you can do that yourself. Make sure that the doors are painted nicely or new. If you have a little extra money, you need to make sure that all of the door frame ways are neat and not built up with old chipping wood.
